Tonight dinner had to be in a hurry Because A was coming home from Canada and we only had an hour to eat before we had to be home so we decided to just go to Lenny’s for some Italian food. Lenny’s is in a little strip mall located on main street in Bernardsville so it is close for us.
I ordered a calzone with Pepperoni, mushroom, mozzarella and ricotta cheese, M ordered spaghetti with marinara sauce and a small salad. The salad was ok iceburg lettuce with tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. Everything was nice and fresh and was on ok start. I wanted a salad but the house salad on its own was $7.50 and I just didn’t think it was worth it. The spaghetti came and it had a sauce that was nothing special very little flavor and on the watery side, not a real red color so was probably canned. The calzone was nice sized and was nice and crispy, inside of crust was a little on the raw side so probably needed to be a little thinner, Mushrooms tasted canned which I really hate is it so hard for places to use fresh ingredients? Flavor is so much better with fresh cooked mushrooms and I find it hard to believe that they are that much more expensive especially since they are charging $1.50 for a small handful of them. It came with the same sauce that was on the spaghetti so I did not eat that on the calzone.
The place has a typical pizzeria feel with about 10 different premade pizzas for slices at any time. Server was friendly and attentive although never asked if I wanted a refill on my soda so not to attentive I guess.
Overall it was a below average experience that I will not repeat anytime soon. There are two other pizzerias in town that I can walk to from my house and they both have better food then Lenny’s. Live and learn I guess.
For now this is the food dude wishing you good eats
